Light Pollution
The most serious one of all enemies of nocturnal sightings and photography are artificial and moon lighting Even big planets can attribute to that. In fact the planet Venus is able to cast a shadow of objects on our planet.
So... how much of a burden is it? Well if you are in the evening or night out in the streets of a metropolitan city like Tokyo or New York or Paris and look up into the clear sky, how many stars do you see? The other end of this spectrum is being in a desert or at sea while looking up. The difference is like black and white. There is a scale to measure this: The Bortle scale. The sea and deserts being 1 and the metropolitan cities being 9.

Zooming in like this shows you the biggest most polluted region in the world: the area of Amsterdam - Bruges - Lille - Cologne - Dortmund - Amsterdam in the Netherlands. This is an area with very many Greenhouses.
