Meteors - Donald Burghardt Photo Imaging

What you see here is the entrance in our atmosphere at an altitude of some 120km. The velocity is roughly 213.000 kph or 59 km/sec. At entry it heats up and starts to release smoke from the outer layers burning up. That heats up to about 7000-8000 degrees celcius which causes the bright blue light. Then the whole core explodes which is clearly visible at the white end. Also clearly visible is how it tumbles through the thickening atmosphere which destabilizes its trajectory. This one is quite spectacular and I am extremely happy with this shot.

Sateillite tracks have a clear start and ending point and their trail is sharp and straight and thin with no fluctuations in thickness and trail.
