Iceland:
Northern Lights are a good thing when during delivery but if the baby sees it it will be cross eyed for the rest of its life.

Nightly version of the Bifrost bridge
The Bifröst bridge guarded by Heimdal, is the path the Gods use to descent from Asgard (land of the Gods) to Midgard, land of the normal people that see it as the rainbow or... the aurora. The Bifröst Bridge also led fallen warriors to their final resting place in Valhalla.

Saami:
Souls of lost children playing in the sky.

Kuukkeli:
A Saami name for the aurora. The Kuukkeli is the Saami name for the Siberian Jay. When you twist the feathers of this bird they seem to shimmer like the aurora.

Taivaanvalkeat: This translates best to forrest fire. A truly ferociously raging red aurora. It shows very very rarely and just a few people have seen it, so it remains a mysterious display for now.

Revontuli:
The translation is a bit variable: the foxes fire or fire of the fox or firefox.
Static electricity sparks from the furr of the fox running through the snow. There is this giant fox, swift as the arctic wind that emits its sparks across the skies. He who catches this swift giant fox will be prosperous for ever.
The logo of the browser Firefox depicts that fox running around the world lighting up the sky with its fiery tail... ehm... well... the designer of the webbrowser, though actually Finnish, thought of a fast and agile animal to be the symbol of his fast and agile browser. He couldn't have made a better choice...

These were a few stories I readily know and tell. Myths come in many stories and variants. That is why they are myths and they vary from touching and moving to appealing bringing their own romance and omens. Think of living hundreds, thousands, of years ago. No knowledge of heliophysics or solar wind or earths magnetism... just what you see and experience by sheer coïncidence just hours or days later. Higher powers must be in place and acting there...
